Manual Quote Editing

Manual Quote Editing

Fine-tune your quotes with hands-on editing - organize items, adjust pricing, and perfect your presentation.

Overview

Sometimes you want to build quotes from scratch or make precise changes the AI can't handle. The visual editor gives you complete control to create exactly what you need. Here's how to make the most of it.

The Editor Interface

The editor has everything you need in one place:

Main Areas

  • Editing area in the center - modify items and descriptions
  • Save, Preview and Publish controls at the top

Two Ways to Work

  • Edit mode - build and modify your quote
  • Preview mode - see exactly what clients see

Most people switch back and forth between these as they work.

Building Your Quote Structure

The Three Ways to Add Content

You'll see three buttons:

  • Add Item - Individual line items (services, products, etc.)
  • Add Section - Groups of related items with a heading
  • Add Multi-Choice Group - "Pick one of these" options for clients

How Items Work

Every item has a type that controls how clients see it:

  • Required - Always included, clients can't deselect
  • Optional - Clients can add or remove these
  • Multi-Choice - Goes inside multi-choice groups
  • Heading - Section titles (no pricing)

You can change any item's type after creating it - just edit the item and pick a different type.

Building Structure

  • Inside Sections: You can add more items, more sections, or multi-choice groups
  • Inside Multi-Choice Groups: You can only add multi-choice items
  • Standalone Items: Can be any type you want

The AI usually lays out a structure for you.

Smart Structure

  • Start with sections for major deliverables
  • Add items inside sections for specific services
  • Use multi-choice groups when clients need to pick between options
  • Keep it logical - organize how clients think about your services

What Clients See

  • Required items are always selected and included in totals
  • Optional items have checkboxes clients can toggle
  • Multi-choice groups show as radio buttons - pick one only

The structure you build determines how clients navigate and select from your quote.

Pricing Your Items

Different Ways to Price

Fixed pricing - One price regardless of scope Good for: Fixed deliverables

Range pricing - Show min and max (like "$200 - $300") Good for: Variable scope deliverables

Smart Quantity Options

  • Single number - "5"
  • Time format - "2h 30m" (system calculates total automatically)

Most people use a mix depending on how certain they are about scope.

Writing Great Descriptions

What Works

  • Start with the benefit - what does this do for the client?
  • Be specific - "Mobile-responsive design" not just "responsive"
  • Use bullet points for multiple features
  • End with value - why this matters

Example Description

Instead of: "Website development"

Try: "Custom website design with mobile-responsive layout, contact forms, and SEO optimization. Includes 3 rounds of revisions and ensures fast loading times for better user experience."

The goal: Clients should understand exactly what they're getting and why it's worth the price.## Before You Publish

Quick Check

  • Pricing looks right - no typos or outdated rates
  • Descriptions make sense - clients understand what they're getting
  • Sections flow well - logical order from most to least important
  • Preview looks good - test how clients will see it

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Missing descriptions on important items
  • Inconsistent pricing across similar work
  • Confusing section organization
  • Forgetting to test the preview

Pro tip: Read through your quote as if you're the client - does everything make sense?

Working Efficiently

Quick Tricks

  • Mouse over items to edit them directly
  • Use up and down arrows to reorder
  • Use the AI Assistant when you're stuck or want to make a lot of changes at once

Most people get comfortable with the editor after creating 2-3 quotes.
